Limited Edition Boxster is on its way
During last month's New York Auto Show, Porsche displayed a Boxster coated in GT3 orange dubbed the Splashlight. There was no question that this "design exercise" was going to evolve into a limited edition version of Porsche's mid-engined masterpiece, and now, it's official.
The SportDesign Boxster is limited to 500 units, 250 plain-Jane versions and 250 models sporting an "S" on the bootlid. The exterior gets the aforementioned hue, along with a SportDesign-specific body kit made up of a redesigned, deployable wing and a series of diffusers, fore and aft. Black rims with a polished lip round out the package, tying in nicely to the black accents.
On the inside, the lucky few get Alcantara trim lining the seats and steering wheel, which should keep occupants firmly planted when the driver decides to mash the throttle and enjoy the new sport exhaust.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but we'd expect a moderate bump in over the base models.

Porsche continues to improve every model except the one that really matters, the Cayman S. When is Porsche going to take the 911 out of the horsepower protection program and let it stand on its own like a proper flagship should? Put the 3.8L engine, LSD, and fix the too tall 1st and 2nd gear in the Cayman S and let it be the new Porsche flagship.

No. 2. That'll never happen. A shame but it won't. But weren't there rumours of a possible clubsport Cayman? Probably as close as you're going to get.
And, as we're on the subject of porsche, don't you think the names are a bit crap? I mean the Boxster was acceptable but now we've got the misspelt croc, the Cayman, and the chili pepper, the Cayenne. Go back to the numbers I say.
